ZEUS was born in 1984, a product of a group of friends united by a shared passion for design, fashion, and art. Their enthusiasm and drive to exchange experiences, share ideas, and inspire each other led to the creation of a unique brand. This team of young designers, not entirely swayed by the coloured and striking postmodernism, found their footing in the philosophy of synthesis design. Thus, the Zeus group began offering minimalist furniture that was both sleek and chic, a testament to their shared vision and camaraderie.
They chose ZEUS as their name, the divinity par excellence, with a deliberate bit of arrogance, thus creating an iconic, recognisable brand: a square containing three bars (fashion – art – design), topped by an eye-catching logo, all of it black on white. The first products also shortly followed: the fashion collection, ad hoc drawn fabrics, a series of neckties, t-shirts with their logo in different variants and, at the same time, three chairs, a table and a bench, drawn with a PaperMate felt tip pen by Peregalli in the early days. With an attitude that would be defined as ‘understatement’ today. The year was 1984 when the ZEUS group took over the Vigevano shop and became responsible for everything from graphics to art and fashion.
Over the years, ZEUS has not only grown but also evolved. In 1995, it embarked on a new chapter, moving to a different industrial complex, an old garage. With its impressive dimensions and 1950’s architecture, the space was transformed into a 1000 sq m showroom, a testament to ZEUS’ continuous strive for excellence. Located a stone’s throw from the Navigli district, the beating heart of Milan, the new showroom symbolised ZEUS’ growth and its commitment to staying at the forefront of design.
In the last decades, the Blue Garage has become a place for exhibition communication as well as a meeting point for ZEUS and all the other brands that align with ZEUS’ philosophy of presenting the news to host clients, visitors, and friends so that they can appreciate a way of understanding and making sense of design that is not too far from what already existed back in 1984.
